As an orchestrator, I work with composers to prepare scores for recording and/or live performance, whether it be for film, television, games, or the concert hall. Services include:
Orchestrating from a DAW session or MIDI file
Orchestrating from a sketch
Additional orchestration as part of a team
Offering advice on recording line-ups, budgets and recording locations
Original arrangements for orchestras, big bands, theatre and artists
Complete recording project management, from the orchestrations through to parts, printing and Protools preparation
Score producing and booth reading
Conducting
I’m there to support you, the composer, through ever-changing deadlines and late nights and am there to ultimately make sure the sessions run smoothly, getting the best possible recording of your music. The scope and timeline of projects can mean an orchestration job ranges from note-for-note MIDI transcription to additional composition and everything in between - I’m always happy to adapt to fit the project’s needs.
I have extensive experience at all the major LA and London studios as well as studios in Nashville, Vienna, Budapest, Prague and across Europe. Adpating my approach to these different contexts ensures you get the best result with the budget you have and I can offer advice on line-ups, budget, and recording time as well as recommend other music professionals like contractors and copyists.
I have a passion for the orchestra and a deep understanding of notation and instrumental technique that is sought out by composers, production companies, and other orchestrators, knowing that this is the kind of knowledge that saves time (and face!) when working under pressure. Having played and worked with orchestras all my life, I ‘speak the language’ and enjoy the collaborative go-between process of composer and orchestra, whether working as an orchestrator or conductor.
I am an expert in Sibelius, Dorico and unfortunately, Finale.
